Rebecca Howland drew black hollyhocks in two places that summer: in the community garden on LaGuardia Place in New York City and at Theresa and Kenny Burrel’s home in the Catskills. Rebecca Howland has been awarded individual artist fellowships in painting from both the National Endowment for the Arts and the New York Foundation for the Arts. In sculpture, she has received an individual artist fellowship from the NEA and a CAPS grant from the New York State Council on the Arts. She was a COLAB member and a co-founder of ABC No Rio. Her work is widely collected including the Altoids Collection at the New Museum in New York City and Moderna Museet in Stockholm. |
